Cognitive Benefits
Research suggest there is a link between physically fit children and academic achievement. Gymnasts learn terminology, rules, and tactics as well as how to follow directions and problem solve.
Social Skills
Gymnastics provides interaction with various types of people and other children as well as opportunities to work as a team or in partner drills. Gymnastics helps athletes learn to set goals, handle winning and losing, exhibit good sportsmanship, deal with peers and conflicts, and function as part of a team.
Emotional Benefits
Physical activity can help to reduce feelings of depression and anxiety. Involved and supportive coaches can also help their athletes develop strong self-esteem and confidence. Through gymnastics activities, gymnasts learn to deal with disappointments, be persistent, and emphasize effort and progress over outcome.
Continued Enjoyment of Physical Activity
The skills an athlete gains through gymnastics participation will benefit them whether they continue to engage in gymnastics or other competitive sports or recreational activities. In a fun, safe, and supportive environment, athletes also learn to value fitness and enjoy physical activity for life.

Gymnastics provides a learning ground for gymnastics skills, as well as such wonderful life skills as loyalty, commitment, teamwork, sportsmanship, work ethic, respect, time management, character development, health and physical fitness.
Levels of Participation
There are 4 levels of participation in Team Revolution.
Preschool (Ages 1-5)
* Teach basic gymnastics movements and fundamental skills
* Also focus on physical, mental and social development
* Competition is not stressed, but may participate in shows and exhibitions
* Younger children may participate in Parent-Child classes
Recreational (Ages 5 and above)
* Focus on the development and performance of single skills and combinations of skills
* Novice, Intermediate and Advanced levels of participation
* Can be preparation for competitive teams or general recreational and fitness activities
* Some competitive opportunities available, also perform in shows and exhibitions
Competitive
* Formal program, governed by USA Gymnastics or other organizations
* Events, routines, and performance requirements are defined for Junior Olympic Levels 1-10, athletes are expected to progress sequentially through the levels
* Perform routines composed of multiple skills
* Compete in sanctioned meets including local meets, invitational's, state, regional, and national championships
Elite
* Highest level of competition
* Rules are established by the Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG) and divided by age into Junior and Senior
* Vie for sports on the National Team and International Competitions, including the World Championships and Olympic Games
* Elite development programs, which provide skills, routines, and physical abilities testing, help to identify and develop athletes for the elite level. These programs include TOPS and HOPES: Women's Artistic, Future Stars: Men's Artistic and Rhythmic, JumpStart and Olympic Development: Trampoline and Tumbling
